AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the world’s largest non-profit, HIV/AIDS service organization is partnering with iconic artist, Debbie Allen and the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, to commemorate World AIDS Day and recognizing AHF’s milestone of globally, providing cutting edge medical care to over 1 million individuals, as we work to address the rising HIV/AIDS epidemic disproportionately impacting communities across the globe.

Taking place at the historic Apollo Theater, the evening will be a celebration of dance, featuring some of the nation’s highly acclaimed dance companies, including Philadanco, Ailey II, Dance Theatre of Harlem and a special presentation by award-winning dancer/choreographer, Jason Samuels Smith. The evening will also feature tributes to icons in dance that have died due to complications from AIDS and the presentation of the second annual Legacy of Achievement Award to Debbie Allen, for her leadership and advocacy in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

DecAIDS: Then, There And Now

Impulse DC presents “DecAIDS: Then, There & Now – A World AIDS Day Celebration.” Joins us as we look back through the decades of the 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s and today on how AIDS has effected the LGBTQA+ community. This interactive art experience will feature a CELEBRITY guest speaker, sip & paint, dance, spoken word, and dramatic presentations.

Immersion

IMMERSION, A World AIDS Day 2018 Gala, will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018. Poignant messages of hope, remembrance and resilience will be shared by special guests and community champions. An evening soiree in the palatial Ocean Ballroom of the Georgia Aquarium will commence, immersing individuals in an elevated atmosphere accompanied with an open bar, engagement activities and celebration moments. IMMERSION will also serve as the culminating showcase for “Momentum” a visual arts Showcase.  Check it out here

VOICES FOR CHANGE WORLD AIDS DAY GOSPEL CONCERT

Gospel Music Concert promoting awareness of World AIDS Day and honoring South Side Help Center founder, Betty Smith. Featured performances by renown, national Stellar Award Winning gospel recording artists including Precious Holmes, Dexter Walker and Zion Movement and Durrell Smith and Cosmopolitan Prayer Choir

A remembrance service recognizing those have passed and those that are living with HIV/AIDS. special speaker and sharing of community resources that available within the community. this is a five church collaboration with AHF for this event.

This WAD we are taking a unique approach to embracing our history and empowering our future. Instead of having a one night only event - we asked, how can we plan to make an impact through art and education year-round? The answer - creating momentum with WAD 365.

WAD Fort Myers

A committee of local non-profit agencies and clients has been planning a WAD event to be held in Clemente Park in Ft. Myers, FL from 2-6pm on 12/1/18. This family friendly event will include entertainment and speakers, HIV testing, vendor tables, games/activities, door prizes and food.  Many of the details are still being confirmed; additional information will be provided.

WAD Fort Myers Hope Walk & 5K Race

Join us on WORLD AIDS DAY as we remember those who we have lost to the disease and celebrate those living with HIV today. This year is the 30 year anniversary of WORLD AIDS DAY – help us make it memorable! The day includes a timed 5K run, a fun run/walk, and Pooches on Parade competition! Come out and enjoy food, drinks, and live entertainment!

WADS SipNPaint-Celebration for HIV Positive Women Only

Afternoon event for HIV positive women only at the Pink Giraffe Art Studio (a location in South Shore area where yoga, African dance, exercise, poetry readings, support circles, make-up application classes, open mic, family crafts etc., are held by/primarily for Black women). It is a “community art space that caters to inner creativity and well-being”. Event is FREE and being promoted to case managers, CBOs and others who provide resources or engage HIV positive women and/or work with/in high risk areas among women). Capacity is 30 women for art class/painting session. Hot Food, goody bags with SSHC/AHF swag, and drawings for theater and concert tickets.

WORLD AIDS DAY STRUTT FASHION SHOW

10th Annual WADS STRUTT Fashon Show featuring extraordinary local Chicago designers and models. Produced by John Fleming of MadMan Productions. Fleming is a notable advocate for Black MSMs and among the honorees of South Side Help Center’s “20/20 Vision Awards” on National Gay Men’s HIV Awareness Day and SSHC and AHF are leading sponsors. Each year this event has been sold out with more than 200 (capacity seating) attendees from the fashion and LGBTQ community.
