Fort Lauderdale (March 23, 2019) On a beautiful, sunny Saturday, AHF teams gathered in Fort Lauderdale to bring our 14th annual Florida AIDS Walk to life. This year, thousands of people donned their work out gear and walked/ran for a cause.
The money raised will benefit 10 other non-profits that provide HIV/AIDS services in South Florida. The community response to the walk and music festival was overwhelmingly supportive and positive. As the epicenter of the HIV epidemic in the US, the community in Southern Florida is well aware of the need for HIV/AIDS services and turned out in the thousands to show their support.
Multi Grammy award-winning, reggae artist Shaggy, ever rising rock sensation the Struts, and the Queen of “bounce music” Big Freedia gave stellar performances and got the crowd singing along to their hit songs throughout the festival.
AHF services were well represented at the event with booths and stalls from PHD, Pharmacy, PHP, the Healthy Housing Foundation, Impulse, FLUX, and LOUD. The event was well organized with food and drink available for those who came for the music festival and for the walk. Overall, it was a beautiful, inclusive celebration that welcomed guests and made them feel part of the AHF community.
