Submitted By: Christina Yglesias
First of all, both Gavin and Megan were extremely welcoming and helpful when I started my job at AHF. They both went above and beyond getting an efficient and elegant system in place for our weekly RAA reporting. They really took the lead on this which has helped all of us (myself included) who participate in getting these weekly reports together. Their work helped the RAA team function better together- allowing us to collaborate more easily. It also helped us break down lots of data into actionable insights, which will help us as we move forward in the campaign.

Dr Dwyer goes above and beyond to make his patients feel comfortable even when the situation might be otherwise. He takes his time explaining things, and is very good at remembering his cases. I hate needles, and he always manages to make it feel better when he vaccinated me for example.
Nominee: Gavin De Reuck
Nominee Division: Marketing & Communications
Submitted By: Megan Yu
As a leader, Gavin constantly works on ideas to improve the Web & Tech team by identifying areas that we can improve in and what we can help each other in. He always puts AHF Media’s needs first before his own and works endlessly to give AHF the best. What really stands out about his leadership is his consideration for team members outside of the web team. He thinks of ways of how we can help outside departments grow so we can all deliver our best to AHF. His work inspires me to grow outside of my comfort zone and pushes new innovation and collaboration in AHF. I am so excited to see what he’ll accomplish in the next year.

Nominee: Communications

Above and beyond does not begin to describe the amazing Comms team at Sunset HQ. Managing the full communications scope of every business line and developing messaging and strategy for every campaign – there is seldom a project or initiative which hasn’t already been improved by our Comms team. I can imagine it is difficult to build a unified team around such diverse workplace deliverables (press coverage, social media presence, ongoing email correspondence) yet the Comms team manages day in and day out. I’m proud to work so closely with them and wanted to genuinely recognize how above and beyond they go!

Nominee: Raquel Lemus-Salcido
Nominee Division: Pharmacy
Submitted By: aaron pellicciotti
Raquel has been a leader within the pharmacy by demonstrating her commitment to obtaining Signature on File Agreements for all existing and new patients. She has been reminding patients and reminding fellow team members to try to obtain these forms. She asks every person that passes her window, spoken to on the phone, texted or emailed. She’s utilized our DocuSign portal and has been able to teach others how to use it as well. Because of Raquel’s leadership we have obtained over 400 signature on file agreements. This allows us to continue to serve our patients by having their correct contact information and address. We can deliver to these patients, and be sure that we are providing them with the individualized needs they have expressed to us. Whether it be a specific delivery note, specialized packaging, or getting a new cell phone number so we can text our patient.

Patty calls each patient to see how they are doing and to show them that AHF cares about them during the holiday season and all-year-round.
Nominee: Walter Oriano
Nominee Division: Public Health Division
Submitted By: Amit Mehta
Going in for an HIV test is stressful no matter the circumstances, but Walter makes it the most pleasant experience possible. He is kind, patient, extremely knowledgeable and always helpful. I feel empowered in the choices I make going forward and leave with any myths and misconceptions calmly and clearly dispelled. A person like Walter greatly increases the likelihood that I will return for regular testing, because he has removed any sense of fear, discomfort or stigma from doing so. He has instilled a deeper sense of responsibility in me without ever making me feel judged. As a sexually active heterosexual male, I have incorporated routine testing in my life, and this is in no small thanks to Walter’s exemplary professionalism.
Nominee: Eugenia Dudley
Nominee Division: Department of Medicine/Healthcare Centers
Submitted By: Kathy Choice
The day after I met Eugenia, for the very first time, she was more than willing to help me with the organization and assembly of the binders I will be using when training the new Nurse Managers in the HCCs. It spoke volumes to me that Eugenia was so willing to support me, as a new employee in a new role: I had an idea of that wanted to do and she embraced the idea and helped me make it a reality. I didn’t know how or where to do the printing of the documents or how to get them assembled and Eugenia was there with me through every change from the table of contents to the final organization of each section of the binder.

Eugenias help helps me present information to the Nurse Manager, NM, that is organized and easy to access as a result the NM will have essential information at their fingertips which will help them while working with their staff which in return will help the patients we serve.
