January 2020 Above & Beyond

Nominee: Vera Molchanov
Nominee Division: Pharmacy
Submitted By: Briana Moe
Vera has taken the time to learn more than required to accomplish her job effectively. She then uses that knowledge to pro-actively look for problems, train additional personnel, and resolve issues. I am impressed with her level of initiative and personal responsibility on a daily basis. Any downtime is used effectively to search out more tasks for completion. We are privileged to be able to work with such a professional. At a large operation such as Central Fill, it is easy to only do the tasks assigned to you and assume others are completing the rest of the workflow. Vera does not stop there. She investigates issues, follows problems through the resolution and confirms tasks are accomplished in a timely manner. Even when tasks are out of the ordinary, such are reproducing 200 Rx for a home pharmacy due to shipping vendor error. She took responsibility for the list of orders, move personnel appropriately, and cross-checked the manifests to ensure all orders were completed. This resulted in only a 1-day delay to the home pharmacy (which would have been 4 additional days if we had waited for the Fedex error to be resolved by the carrier). This directly aided the home pharmacy in their mission to prevent any lapse in patient care. Her dedication and intelligence are a great asset to AHF.
Nominee: Toren Anderson
Nominee Division: Human Resources
Submitted By: Kelly Capozzi
Toren has been doing an EXCELLENT job at getting the new hire employee files created and sent to me timely and complete. I know this is not an easy task with so many new employees to follow up with and track down all required documents. Toren has been diligent on getting this done in time for payroll, and deserves recognition for a job well done! As a result of Torens efforts, payroll has been able to set up the new employees on ADP/Etime in time to process payroll. This is cutting down on the need to process manual checks for the employees first pay, so they are paid on time and making the employee feel more confident about their new position and a more positive view of their new employer.
Nominee: Julianne Allende
Nominee Division: Managed Care/PHP
Submitted By: Karen Haughey
When a PHP member looked to the plan for gender-reassignment surgery, research showed there were no Medicare providers in all of South Florida performing this surgery. Julianne made it her mission to work with a potential physician and guided his practice in becoming a full-fledged Medicare provider. This was not an easy task from convincing the office of the need for Medicare providers for this service to the regulations and paperwork required to make this a reality. Julianne was a true resource to this practice and over the course of several months, this provider is now a Medicare provider and will work with AHF and PHP in providing the services to our members. In true Provider Relations Rep fashion, Julianne appealed to the provider’s better angels and was able to get the costs reduced by several thousand dollars. The surgery is being scheduled and the member, having waited ten years to get this point, is ecstatic. Julianne’s determination to move a “cash-only” practice of gender reassignment surgery to a Medicare provider exemplifies the AHF value of Doing What’s Right and truly all of our core values. She is Mission Driven; CUTTING EDGE MEDICINE” (she researched the South Florida market and found the practice offering this surgery) AND ADVOCACY (she worked with the practice on behalf of this member and the plan so that the Medicare oversight would be in place), REGARDLESS OF ABILITY TO PAY” (payment in both cost to the plan – she negotiated a lower price – and the member in the oversight regulations for Medicare members and plans) Julianne found a way to meet all of the needs of everyone involved in this case and truly is a RADICAL CO-OPERATOR!
Nominee: Kamol Singh
Nominee Division: Information Technology
Submitted By: Jeffry Proctor
Since joining AHF, Kamol has demonstrated consistently going the extra steps to ensure that challenging processes are diagnosed and improved well above expectations.

His professional demeanor and data analysis presentations categorize data issues down into identifiable and manageable results that offer clear resolution, for example…

Our outstanding LabCorp billing, which was quite large and problematic for many years, and the best we could do was to make extra efforts each closing period to mitigate the data issues by 10-20%; however Kamol followed the lead to correct the core issues that IT can impact and became the pivot for information to the IT team members to effect improvements and reduce our outstanding payments to LabCorp by an astounding 80%..! And, Kamol continues to monitor and advise on this topic having created tracking tables that benefit many other aspects of our work.

In another case, we had an issue with our claim data errors that were output in a PDF as XML, with boxes and extran

His analysis and determination to look deeper into issues and find resolutions and best practices has had a positive effect on both our IT Managed Care team, And also on AIDS Healthcare Managed Care.

Independently and with a dedication to the tasks at hand, Kamol does his research and analysis, be that reading CMS documentation or digging & scratching at data till it makes sense.

After reading the above, and impressive as those items are, I can only say that that is a small fraction of the impact Kamol has, on our Work, and our Team’s Personal overall moral.

His work-ethics are par-none period and his impact on AHF is substantial.

Submitted By: Danae Thomas
Marlene Duggan provided assistance for a patient who needed to have his pre- op paperwork completed in a very short period of time. Without the clearance the patient would not have been able to have his surgery done. The patient personally sent a letter to advise without the help of Marlene he would no have been able to have his surgery. He knows he was difficult to work with but still received great service.

Nominee: Keith Williams
Nominee Division: Marketing & Communications
Submitted By: Anthony J. Forbes
Keith Williams has continued to volunteer when and where needed. He is always willing to perform HIV testing without whether it is at community events or within our agency at the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland. Keith Williams stepped up without hesitation to complete a monthly report for the state when the person who normally completes the task was out on medical leave. I have seen him give an HIV test at 5:00 p.m., the test results were positive and he linked them to care, as well as providing care, comfort, and empathy. I had never been so proud of a smooth hand-off as the one that he performed and I witnessed. He made sure that all relevant parties (nurse, medical social worker, pharmacist and case manager) were ready to receive this young and retained and linked to care. Keith Williams is the person that I rely on to training all new HIV testers. Keith Williams demonstrated how he is a team player but continues to show that our customers are the most valuable assets. He is helpful, friendly, courteous and prompt in the attention that he gives to others in need, whether that is his co-workers or customers.
