Nominee: Deepa Kulkarni
Nominee Division: Information Technology
Submitted by: Russell Walker
Deepa was a true star who jumped on a request to help assist with patient care. Worked to correct the situation and grant access as needed incredibly fast and made sure to document and follow processes to get it completed.
Due to an emergency situation at an HCC located on the CPS West Server, access was granted to other practice managers in the Southern Bureau housed on CPS East so they could as a team work on ensuring patient care was continued and no one was left. Deepa jumped into action and had this rectified within 20 mins for all that needed it. Follow up with the procedures and ticketing system was completed also, so it shows that even during an emergency time, workflow was followed and nothing slipped through the cracks. A nimble performance in the truest sense of the word.
Nominee: Christiane Venvryes
Nominee Division: Department of Medicine/Healthcare Centers
Submitted by: Patrick Nuss
Mrs. Vendryes will take some of her own time to help patient and go well above and beyond her job without being asked. We had a problem figuring out how to bring a sick patient to his specialist appointment and Mrs. Vendryes called the patient and used her own Lyft account to provide this patient transportation and make sure he can go to his appointment safe and sound.
This is just an example of how much she cares about patients within our community. She has a busy family life at home and still finds time to help other people and make them feel welcome.

Nominee: Lori Bradford, RN
Nominee Division: Managed Care/Positive Healthcare
Submitted by: Jerome Smith
I am blind, and asked Ms. Bradford to fill this commendation out. Living as a blind person, I spend everyday in the dark. I cannot do some things for myself because of this. Ms. Bradford assists me with many things that I need help with. She has had me re-certified for Food and Friends delivery service. She fought tooth and nail for me to get food baskets from Metro Health. She escorts me through the clinic building to make sure I get to-and-fro safely. She was nice to my mom when she came with me to my doctor’s appointment. That meant a lot to me. Sometimes she will just talk to me, because I am home alone, tele-working. It HELPS. She also sent me pizza from Dr. Doonquah-TWICE. I wish I could have had more. They were delicious!
I don’t know what the mission of AHF is. But if it is to help people when they need it the most, then Ms. Bradford is the One. I just wanted to thank her. AND to see if Dr. Doonquah could get more pizza for her to send….
Nominee: Christopher Sharma
Nominee Division: Executive/Administrative
Submitted by: Lori Bradford, BSN, MSPH, RN
Chris helps me all of the time. If I have a question about RW eligibility, or have problems with CareWare, I can always rely on him to help. He will start a LoopUp, share his screen, and show me how do what ever I have a question about. He is a very good trainer. He does not withhold information, as if to share what he knows would diminish his Light in anyway. And it is this that makes him a Rock Star. If he cannot help, he will try to find someone else who can. He also stayed until 10p.m. waxing the floors at the K ST location when preparing for a site visit one time, which I am not sure was recognized and appreciated like it should have been.
These behaviors that I am recognize impacts the mission of AHF, because through helping others do their jobs, he helps hundreds of patients within the DMV, whether he actually interfaces with the patient, or not. He displays an uncanny willingness to serve, which is what I understood AHF to be all about, when I first came to work here.
Nominee: Patrick Saint Fleur

He is also great at multitasking.

Patrick also joins the team in putting our patients first, and is always finding ways to assist them.

Patrick also has the team’s best interests at heart, and prides himself not only on being a fantastic leader, but also in creating great leaders.
Thank you Patrick for all the hard work you do for your team and for AHF.

Nominee: Liliana Zoldi
Nominee Division: Human Resources
Submitted by: Henna Patani
Liliana has always been very supportive and helpful for all processes related to my work visa. She has been approachable for any questions or concerns that I might have had and she has been very responsive to my emails.
As a result of Liliana’s work, I have finally received approval of my visa. All the paperwork and processes were completed in a timely manner. This has impacted my ability of being able to stay and work in the United States. This would not have been possible without her utmost cooperation and consistent perseverance.
Nominee: Wendy Caballero
Nominee Division: Public Health Division
Submitted by: Lori Bradford, MSPH, BSN, RN
Wendy is permanently an M.A. now. She was a temp before I left on WFH. She sets the tone of the office. She deals with a lot of people (patients and staff) coming at her constantly, from different directions. She also has to answer the phones (which ring constantly), keep everything organized. She is impressive. She does not lose her cool. Front desk M.A. is a difficult position. She deserves to be recognized. Even if something is not technically her job, she will really try to learn it anyway, just so the work of the office gets done. And she does little things, that she does not have to do, just to make the people working in the office happy: bringing snacks, setting up breakfast for the doctor. She does not have to do that, and she knows that. But she does it anyway, as a part of her process of setting a positive tone for the office. That does not go unnoticed.
She is nimble. And she goes Above and Beyond because that is who she is, even when she does not know that someone notices it.
Nominee: Karla Leiva
Nominee Division: Housing
Submitted by: Enrique Rodriguez
Over the past couple of months Karla has been tasked with management and leadership of the Healthy Housing program as it was in transition between Housing Directors. In this time, Karla jumped into a leadership role helping create systems and structures necessary to move Health Housing program into a positive quality program. She has a huge heart and challenges HHF leadership to not only provide positive housing, but also to create the necessary resources for tenants with the highest needs.
I started one month ago as Housing Director and Karla not only helped with my onboarding, but she was very conscious the biggest staff and tenant needs, and has advocated to creating a positive HHF program. She continues to serve as HHF’s swiss army knife, working heavily to case management tenants, lead the HHF team and train, all on top of her daily responsibilities. She never says no, or operates without a smile and positive attitude. She is a very important part of the housing team, and should be recognized for it.
Nominee: Rig Rush
Nominee Division: Marketing & Communications
Submitted by: Staci Mullins
Rig has been a huge help in assisting my region with marketing needs. Recently, one of our affiliate grants had funds needing spent on media materials and Rig jumped to the task and had a draft ready within a couple days. He has also made himself available to join calls and really explain to their team the effectiveness social media marketing has and how the marketing team works to ensure the right target areas are being covered. Rig has been a huge help to the Midwest and shortly after covering the North, we have stayed in regular contact or met to go over ideas and improvements needed for growth and to capitalize our exposure.
Rig’s energy and engagement has shined through his work. The reflection he gives in his role is exactly how I see our marketing in the organization: unique and comforting, powerful and outspoken just enough to make the mind really think and get someone interested.
