As we navigate and adapt to the new, fast-moving and uncharted global territory of COVID-19, I am proud to report that our AHF family also continues to honor our core mission of care and service.
One indicator of this dedication and commitment to our mission is to see the progress and advancement reflected in the monthly Facts at a Glance.
While this key monthly AHF resource (February 2020 version is linked and attached) is always inspiring, I must point out that since this February report was completed and over these first few weeks in March–a time when COVID-19 was spreading around the world and disrupting the normal order of business–AHF continued onward with our mission:
- Despite the pandemic, AHF crossed the threshold of 1.4 million patients in care worldwide last week (March 20th)—1,404,909 patients now in care! And,
- Over the past two weeks, AHF also added nine (9) new global clinics—including sites in Uganda, Vietnam, Mozambique, and Brazil!
This is a remarkable accomplishment in an ordinary time–and even more so today–and one in which we should all take pride.
Over the past few weeks, I have also observed firsthand how magnificently the AHF family has performed, providing continuity of care and many of our key services—first and foremost, striving to ensure that all our patients and pharmacy clients continue to receive their lifesaving medicines with little or no disruption. Collectively we have sustained the care of our patients and individually you have answered the call to contribute in whatever ways you can.
Again, AHF leadership—Senior Management and our Board of Directors—is committed to you. There will be no layoffs. We will work with you to cope with individual difficulties.
But we will also need to stay nimble in order to respond as new information and conditions develop.
