340B Advocates Make a Difference in D.C.

During the annual 340B Coalition Summer Conference, passionate advocates flew to DC to speak to their Representatives about protecting the 340B Drug Pricing program.

About thirty people, including 13 AHF team members, “took to the hill” for visits to 49 offices. AHF worked in collaboration with RWC-340B, a national association of HIV/AIDS health care providers and the Powers law firm, who are staunch advocates of the 340B program.

The group split into smaller contingents and provided information, personal testimonies, and educational material on the dangers of dismantling the 340B program.

The program has worked as it is for 25 years, by offering drugs at a discounted price to non-profit clinics and safety-net hospitals. With that savings, covered entities can expand patient care and offer an incredibly diverse range of services. If the program were changed or dismantled, millions of Americans would suffer.
