AHF Celebrates International Condom Day

You’ve never seen Westside Story like this! For one night only, burlesque meets the classic story of two lovers separated by warring families. In celebration of International Condom Day, this dazzling show offers condom-themed acts woven into a timeless, action-packed story. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll go home with tons of free condoms!

International Condom Day (ICD), created by AHF and celebrated each year on February 13th, came about as an innovative and lighthearted way to remind people that wearing a condom can prevent pregnancy and STDs, including HIV.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s original ICD production features a burlesque-style twist on the classic plot of Westside Story. Through a mirage of colorful fan feathers, tightly-cinched corsets, and a never-ending supply of condoms, this stunning burlesque show has it all! The cast of powerhouse performers wows the audience with wit and delights with dance numbers, all while promoting a good cause.

With the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, our daily lives changed in innumerable ways. But people continued having sex throughout the pandemic. A recent survey by Bankrate found that 1 in 3 Americans are skipping the doctor (where they are most likely to get tested for HIV and STIs) because of cost. That was back in March of 2020 when COVID-19 cases had just topped 1,000 with 29 reported deaths.

Since then, COVID-19 cases and deaths have skyrocketed, only giving people more reasons not to go to the doctor or visit a clinic for fear of exposure.

On top of that, the most recent statistics from the CDC indicate that 1 in 5 people in the U.S. has a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Because of this decrease in doctor visits and staggering STI rates, it is more important than ever to encourage the use of condoms to prevent sexually transmitted infections.

This fabulous show promotes safer sex in the face of rising STDs across the country and should not be missed. Tickets are free and can be found at useacondom.com.
