AHF Launches ‘Food for Health’ Program to Alleviate Hunger in LA

In response to the ongoing food crisis driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has launched the Food For Health program in Los Angeles. Food for Health is uniquely positioned to alleviate hunger by repairing and rebuilding local communities utilizing innovative strategies.

The official opening took place on August 24, 2021 at AHF’s Sinclair Hotel affordable housing site in Downtown Los Angeles. Onsite staff and volunteers were able to provide fresh produce and groceries to over 200 families in need. According to recent statistics by the California Department of Public Health, 40% of low-income adults in California are unable to afford enough food, 1 in 4 California children don’t have enough food and over 7 million Californians were eligible for CalFresh, but approximately 2.5 million did not participate. The reality is, California has an undeniable food crisis.

Hours of operation of Food for Health are Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9am-12pm. To learn more about Food for Health or to view photos from the opening, click here.
