AHF Launches New Syphlilis Awareness Billboards

AHF launched a new billboard campaign aimed at raising awareness about the negative health outcomes associated with leaving syphilis untreated during pregnancy.

The statistics are alarming. If a woman has syphilis while she’s pregnant and doesn’t get treated right away, she can pass the infection on to the baby. Up to 2 in 5 babies (40 percent) born to women with untreated syphilis die from the infection.

But syphilis can be treated. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers syphilis can pose to pregnant women and their children if they don’t know their status. The billboards direct the viewer to FreeSTDcheck.org to encourage them to get tested and treated, so no harm will come to them or their baby.
