AHF Wins Big at LA Blade Awards

In January 2022, the Los Angeles Blade (LA Blade) released their Best of LGBTQ LA 2022 list. We are proud to announce that AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) received many wins and honorable mentions throughout various categories. All finalists and winners were selected by LA Blade readers, which makes the wins a powerful example of AHF’s positive impact on the community.

AHF Healthcare Centers won “Best Medical Provider” as a true testament to AHF’s high-quality work. In a year when things were supposed to go “back to normal” but continued to prove challenging, this award honors the “nimbleness” of AHF staff.

AHF Director of Western Sales, Jose Ramos, won for the “Most Committed Activist.” An activist since he was 14 years old, Jose launched Impulse from his kitchen table in 2009. Since then, he has shepherded the group’s growth with the support of AHF. This year, Impulse Group LA also won for “Best LGBTQ Social Group.” Powered by AHF, Impulse is the oldest AHF affinity group and continues to do powerful work in the community, despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic. Impulse is the largest AHF affinity group with chapters around the world and is committed to AHF’s mission and supporting safe sex practices.

Out of the Closet Thrift Stores won in the Best Clothing Store category of the LA Blade Awards for the second year in a row. The “Most Committed Activist Editor’s Choice” award went to Queen Victoria Ortega, the President of AHF Flux. “Best Ally” went to actor and activist Debbie Allen, who worked with AHF to put on last year’s World AIDS Day 2021 Concert, “The LA Revival,” held on December 1st in Los Angeles.

Congratulations to the entire AHF team; you can see the complete list of LA Blade Award Recipients here.
