Even though events looked different this year, AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF’s) International Condom Day (ICD) was a raging success worldwide.
With the spread of COVID-19 still of significant concern, ICD celebrations were reimagined with social distancing as a top priority. Some countries got creative and hosted virtual events where condom education, advocacy, and entertainment were able to reach thousands of people from the safety of their own homes. Where local guidelines allowed for in-person events, attendees and staff wore masks, and everyone practiced social distancing.
This year AHF streamed a live burlesque show starring Netflix is a Joke’s Flame Monroe and Season 7 Winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Violet Chachki. The burlesque show promoted safer sex practices while providing entertainment to large virtual crowds on Facebook and YouTube.
